SUMMARY:Mexico Office Closed
DESCRIPTION:Honoring the Cycles\, Embracing Renewal\nAs the year draws to a close and a new cycle prepares to unfold\, we pause—just as nature does—to honor the turning of time. The seasons remind us that all things move in rhythm: the quiet stillness before the return of light\, the moment of rest before new growth begins. \nThis is a time for deep gratitude—for the lessons\, the challenges\, the gifts received\, and the unseen forces that guide our path. A time to stand in right relationship with all that surrounds us—our loved ones\, our communities\, the land\, the unseen realms\, and most importantly\, ourselves. \nIn this sacred pause\, the office will be taking a short time out\, stepping back to renew our spirits so that we may return ready to continue walking the unknown\, holding space for the work that must be done\, and supporting the annual mandas in both traditions. It is our honor to serve as we stand beside Don David\, who carries the fire of wisdom and leads the extended Fire Community across the world. \nMay this season bring you moments of reflection\, warmth\, and connection. May the embers of wisdom be planted deep within\, ready to spark and grow in the year ahead. And may Grandfather Fire’s mission in this time burn brightly\, guiding all those who seek its light. \nWishing you the most beautiful and blessed time. We will see you soon\, rekindled and ready for what is to come. \nWith warmth and appreciation\,\nDon David Wiley’s Staff

SUMMARY:GFF Recovery Day
DESCRIPTION:Don David is not available on this day.\nDon David Wiley as a Conduit of the God of Fire\nDon David Wiley serves as a powerful conduit of the God of Fire. During his intense work\, when Tatewarí takes control of his being\, he is swept into a transcendent state—his body’s temperature soars\, and he enters a trance-like condition reminiscent of a deep\, ceremonial sleep. Meanwhile\, Grandfather Fire spends the night offering his wisdom—constantly ingesting sacred hot cocoa and smoking sacred tabaco. In this state\, although Don David remains unharmed\, his physical body endures a heavy strain. \nWhen the night finishes and attendees leave\, his dedicated Recovery Team\, comprised of handpicked ritual support individuals\, plays a vital role. As the divine presence recedes and Grandfather departs from the physical realm\, this committed group guides Don David back into his body. The morning after the Grandfather Fires\, Don David awakens feeling discombobulated and spaced\, requiring time to reconnect with his extremities and regain a sense of physical presence. A strong hands-on therapeutic session and a day of focused recovery are key to shaking off the residual ethereal numbness\, allowing him to reestablish strength\, clarity\, and focus. \nThough Don David often jokes about the challenges of navigating our physical form—humor that echoes Grandfather Fire’s own playful jibes at human bodies when using Don David’s body as a vessel to speak to us during an audience—the recovery process remains an essential part of his work. It ensures that the extraordinary service he offers—allowing others to listen to the wisdom shared by the God of Fire—stays balanced and true\, ultimately enhancing the profound healing he brings to those he serves.

SUMMARY:Audience with Grandfather Fire: Firekeeper Initiation
DESCRIPTION:This is a open audience hosted by Sacred Fire.\nAudience with Grandfather Fire: \nA Sacred Culmination – December 2025\nWisdom from the Dawn of Creation\nFor 800\,000 years\, Grandfather Fire has been a teacher\, healer\, and keeper of sacred stories. Known as Tatewari to the Wixáritari people\, He speaks through the vessel of Don David Wiley\, offering guidance that illuminates the soul. \nThis December\, as the Firekeeping initiation reaches its sacred climax\, the newly trained keepers will gather in the holy valley of Tepoztlán for a profound and intimate Audience with Him. The evening begins with Grandfather Fire’s wisdom shared openly with the public—stories that stir the spirit\, answers that reshape the heart. Then\, in a private ceremony\, the initiates will kneel before the living flame as Tatewari acknowledges their journey\, blesses their path\, and declares their training complete. \nThis is no ordinary fire. This is the voice of ancient wisdom\, the light that has guided humanity since the first spark. \n“His answer helped me more than the answer I was expecting.”\n“What you experience with Grandfather is like an education for your soul.” \nCome witness the sacred. Come feel the fire’s embrace. And for those called to keep the flame—may this be the moment your service begins. \nFire speaks. Will you listen? \nPublic are welcome for the open Audience; Firekeeper initiation portion is private.

SUMMARY:Kawiterutsirri In- Person Meetings
DESCRIPTION:This is a closed\, specialized event\, hosted by Grupo Tatewari Council of Elders\, known as the Kawiterutsirri.\nThe Kawiterutsirri are the esteemed council of elders of Grupo Tatewari\, a collective of devoted Westerners walking the sacred path of traditional medicine within the timeless Wixárika lineage. In every Wixárika community\, Kawiterutsirri is the name given to the Council of Elders—those who embody wisdom\, experience\, and spiritual authority. In Grupo Tatewari\, this name has been given in recognition of the responsibility and sacred trust these elders carry as they guide the path forward. \nEach member of the Kawiterutsirri has undergone years of disciplined training\, pilgrimages\, and initiations under the direct instruction of Grandfather Fire\, the first and original shaman. It is Grandfather who called them to this path\, led them to the ancestral lands of the Sierra Madre Mountains in Mexico\, and who continues to guide their steps\, decisions\, and prayers. \nAs initiated mara’akate—traditional healers\, counselors\, and ritual leaders—they are recognized by the Wixárika Kawiterutsirri in the Sierra and have been entrusted with the sacred duty of helping modern people find healing\, purpose\, and reconnection through this living tradition. \nThe Kawiterutsirri serve not just as spiritual leaders but as guardians of sacred values—honor\, respect\, responsibility\, and right relationship. Everything they do arises from these principles\, rooted in a commitment to walk with humility\, integrity\, and deep listening to the land\, the ancestors\, the spirits\, and to each other. \nThough they live in different regions across North and Central America\, the Kawiterutsirri remain closely connected\, gathering regularly via Zoom and meeting in person before or after pilgrimages\, ceremonies\, or trainings. These councils allow them to align their work and discern Grandfather Fire’s will for the ongoing unfolding of this sacred path. \nAs bridges between worlds—ancient and contemporary\, seen and unseen—the Kawiterutsirri of Grupo Tatewari carry the fire forward\, so it may continue to illuminate lives\, heal hearts\, and inspire new generations to walk in beauty\, balance\, and reverence.

SUMMARY:SPA Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:This is a closed specialized program.\nAfter becoming a mara’akame\, Don David Wiley took on a sacred commitment—mandas made not only with his words\, but with his heart\, his feet\, and his life. Each year\, he has walked the ancient trails to Wirikuta\, the sacred desert nestled in the mountains of central Mexico\, a place the Wixárika people revere as the birthplace of the world. \n \nThis pilgrimage is no simple journey. It is a return\, a reweaving of relationship with the ancestors\, with the Sacred Sites\, with Fire\, and with Divine. For the Wixaritari\, this path is a living thread that sustains their tradition\, their identity\, and their understanding of life. For Don David\, it is also an act of profound devotion—a personal offering of love\, respect\, and fidelity to the sacred agreements made when he was initiated. \nToday\, Don David serves as the attending shaman for Grupo Tatewari\, guiding other mara’akate in this yearly pilgrimage to fulfill their own mandas. With each step\, he not only renews his personal commitment\, but also holds space and spiritual direction for those walking beside him—ensuring that the sacred teachings\, the ceremonial precision\, and the heartfelt devotion of this ancestral path are preserved\, honored\, and passed on with integrity as Grandfather Fire has instructed. \nThis deepening of commitment is made possible under the care and guidance of Don Efren González\, a respected elder Wixárika mara’akame\, who is teaching and accompanying Don David and the group to ensure their experiences are not only authentic\, but rooted in the real transmission of the tradition. Don Efren’s presence brings wisdom\, depth\, and spiritual authority\, helping the group to grow in clarity\, humility\, and devotion\, while strengthening their healing work and understanding of the ancient ways. \nIt’s important to note that this pilgrimage is not open to the public. It is a sacred commitment reserved exclusively for initiated mara’akate who have been entrusted with this responsibility as part of their ongoing spiritual training and service. \nYear after year\, through sun and silence\, dust and stars\, Don David walks with the prayer of continuity in his chest—honoring not just the steps of the elders who came before\, but also carrying the prayers of those who may never see those mountains. Each pilgrimage is a renewal of his spiritual covenant—an expression of gratitude and humility\, and a testament to the unshakable relationship he holds with the wisdom of the ancestors and the sacred geography of this world. \nIn walking these ancient paths and leading others upon them\, Don David reminds us that commitment to the sacred is not a one-time promise—it is a lifelong dance with mystery\, duty\, and love. \nThis pilgrimage starts and ends in Casa Xiuhtecuhtli.

SUMMARY:CLINICAL: In-Person Nauha Healing Day in Tepoztlán\, Morelos. México.
DESCRIPTION:This is a closed program.\nThe program is hosted by Don David Wiley and supported by his office.\nTepahtiani Clinical Healing In-Person Session\nDon David Wiley offers Traditional Nahua Healing sessions as part of the training program for his Tepahtiani apprentices\, or Nahua Traditional Healers. \nThe Nahua Weather Working path has a rich healing practice\, and many have experienced the profound blessings of this work. Tepahtiani apprentices are initiated Weather Workers\, also called Graniceros or Quiatlizques\, who have taken on the additional work of learning the ancient healing practices associated with the Nahua tradition. \nDuring a Tepahtiani Clinical Healing session\, Don David Wiley performs healing work while approximately 8 of his apprentices observe and learn. These sessions are held under strict confidentiality. \nGiven that these sessions take place during a training day and in an educational environment\, the fee for these clinical healing sessions is significantly reduced. \nThis is a closed program. The program is hosted by Don David Wiley and supported by his office. Due to the nature of the training\, there is a brief application process for these appointments. Students require diversity in the different aspects of the medicine\, so requests are added to a list\, and once approved\, recipients will receive a confirmation email. \nSessions are 45 minutes long.\nThere are six appointments available\, starting at 9 AM. \nIf you would like more information\, please contact Don David Wiley’s Consultorio. \nFeel free to recommend this offering to those who may benefit from or be interested in shamanic traditional healing.

SUMMARY:Tepahtiani Training
DESCRIPTION:This is a closed specialized program.\nGraduate Tepahtiani Training Classes\nLocation: Casa Xiuhtecuhtli – Tepoztlán\, Morelos\, México \nThe Tepahtiani healing path is not something one learns from books—it is a living tradition\, passed through presence\, practice\, and relationship. These in-person graduate training classes are a vital part of the continuing education that Don David Wiley offers to initiated apprentices walking this sacred Nahua path. \nThis is a medicine that must be felt\, lived\, and embodied. It moves through the heart\, through connection with Nature and Divine\, through personal transformation. That is why direct\, experiential training is essential. These classes are not just about refining technique—they are about deepening perception\, growing in humility\, and learning to truly listen to life. \nDon David Wiley was trained as a Tepahtiani by Don Lucio Campos Elizalde\, a revered healer who spent his life walking the sacred paths of the central Mexican highlands. Don Lucio passed on his staff to Don David after recognizing in him the devotion\, strength\, and integrity needed to carry this lineage forward—especially across cultures and languages\, so that others might receive the gift of this ancient wisdom. \nTatewarí chose Don David to become a shaman\, to rescue and preserve the lost ancestral teachings of Indigenous medicine paths. As a bridge between worlds\, Don David now trains mara’akate and tepahtiani alike—those who have been called into service and committed to their own sacred learning. \nThese graduate classes are offered exclusively at Casa Xiuhtecuhtli in Tepoztlán\, where the ceremonial heart of this tradition lives. Here\, the Mayoría—home to the sacred Nahua altar—provides a space for apprentices to continue their growth\, refine their healing skills\, and deepen their service. \nTrainings typically include: \n\nTemazcalli (traditional sweat lodge) for purification and alignment\nTeachings and transmission of advanced healing techniques and cosmology\nClinical healing days to gain real-time experience under supervision\nSpiritual direction & mentoring from Don David Wiley and the wisdom of elder teachers\n\nWhile apprentices in the early stages of their Tepahtiani formation may be called to pilgrimage in places such as Chalma\, those in graduate formation continue their path through direct relationship with Don David and the ceremonial center in Tepoztlán. \nThese classes uphold a core truth: that the medicine is alive\, and it reveals itself only through humility\, presence\, and service. They are a rare opportunity to stay attuned with the current of a living tradition—and with the deeper purpose each apprentice was called to fulfill.

SUMMARY:Offerings to la Virgen del Rayo
DESCRIPTION:Pilgrimage to Iztaccíhuatl: \nHonoring the Weather Beings\nLong before foreign feet ever touched these lands\, Iztaccíhuatl stood as a silent sentinel\, her snow-crowned peaks watching over the valleys below like a mother over her children. She was not merely a mountain\, but a living presence—an ancient protector whispered into being by Divine breath itself. \nThe original peoples who lived near her revered her spirit and recognized her connection to the sacred forces of life. She was—and remains—deeply entwined with Chalchiuhtlicue\, goddess of the waters that give and sustain life. In time\, her sacred image was syncretized with the Virgin of Lightning\, and even later with La Malinche\, yet the essence has never changed. She is the guardian of cycles\, of fertility\, of sky and storm—a threshold between earth and heavens. On her slopes\, high and remote\, rituals were once offered in prayerful silence and ecstatic song—gifts of flowers\, jade\, feathers\, and food placed with devotion to call forth rain and abundance\, and to honor the elemental spirits that walk beside us. \nToday\, this lineage continues. \nEach Spring and Fall\, Don David Wiley leads a group of graniceros—weather workers—up her sacred spine\, to a special site near the sky. This place was revealed decades ago by his beloved teacher\, Don Lucio Campos Elizalde\, a renowned Mexican shaman and guardian of ancestral knowledge. Don David met Don Lucio in Nepopualco\, Morelos\, in 1996\, a moment that marked the unfolding of a prophecy—Divine reaching toward the modern world through a path of fire and cloud. It was then that Don David was initiated as a granicero\, tiempero or quiapaquiz in Nahuatl\, and the transmission of sacred weather knowledge began—heart to heart\, breath to breath. \nSanta Bárbara\, patroness of storms and protector of those who walk between worlds\, once revealed while Don Lucio lay in a coma for three years that Nahua granicero souls would reincarnate in modern times and come from the four corners of the Earth. And they have. Year after year\, they return—no matter the distance\, no matter the thunder—to fulfill their mandas\, sacred vows etched not in ink\, but in soul. \nLa Virgen del Rayo \nIn 2004\, the group erected a modern statue of the Virgin of the Lightning to mark the site—not as a monument\, but as a living altar. They hoped that this contemporary expression would shield the sacred place from the unknowing tread of hikers who might not understand the weight of older\, pre-Hispanic imagery. And so\, each season\, they climb. They dress the Virgin in beautiful flowers and offerings\, they sing\, they pray\, they eat together under the watchful eyes of the weather beings. Then they return to the sacred valley of Tepoztlán\, carrying with them the mountain’s breath and blessings. \nThis is not a ceremony of the past. It is a living promise—an echo of Divine calling those who remember to step forward. Rain or lightning\, heat or hail\, they come. Not out of obligation\, but out of love\, service\, and the unwavering knowing that this is what it means to be in relationship with the forces that sustain life. \n \nAnd when they descend from Iztaccíhuatl’s heights\, each granicero carries back not only offerings fulfilled\, but gifts received—protection\, strength\, and the memory of standing face to face with the sacred. They bring these blessings to distant lands\, where they work quietly to help restore a lost balance\, to awaken hearts\, and to invite the world once again into right relationship with nature\, with the unseen\, and with the ever-present grace of Divine. \n\nIztaccíhuatl Volcano \n Invitation to Join the Ceremonies on Iztaccíhuatl\nIf something in your heart stirs as you read about this sacred pilgrimage—if you feel a quiet knowing\, a gentle pull from the mountain\, or a sense that you are meant to be in relationship with the forces that give and sustain life—you are warmly invited to step forward. \nEach journey to Iztaccíhuatl is part of a larger ceremonial cycle—a sacred act of love\, service\, and devotion. The walk up the volcano is just one of the many ritual responsibilities that must be fulfilled during the Fall and Spring ceremonies of Weather Work. It is not a trek\, nor a symbolic gesture\, but a living tradition—an offering made in prayer and gratitude to the weather beings\, the ancestors\, and Divine. \nSome people come simply to accompany the offerings at Iztaccíhuatl as respectful guests. Others may sense a deeper calling stirring within them—an ancestral echo\, a tug at the soul. If this is the case for you\, there is a path of inquiry to follow\, to discern whether you are being called to serve as a granicero—a Weather Worker—in the tradition guided by Don David Wiley. \nWhether you are drawn to witness\, support\, or explore a potential commitment\, you are welcome. \nTo attend or learn more\, please write to:\n📧 workingwithweather@keepsthefire.org \nYou will be contacted by the Chief of the Granicero Group\, who will guide you through what is needed to participate and coordinate any necessary logistics. \nThis path is not reserved for the few\, but open to those who are willing to listen\, to remember\, and to walk in right relationship with the sacred forces of nature. \nWe look forward to hearing from you. \n

SUMMARY:Fall Weather Work Ceremonies
DESCRIPTION:This series of events is hosted by the Weather Workers.\nThese are closed\, specialized gatherings\, accompanied by open ceremonies.\nFall Weather Ceremonies\nAn Ancient Tradition of Gratitude & Abundance\nEach year in late fall\, many who have been initiated into the Nahua rain tradition—known as Quiapaquiz (“bringers of water” in Nahuatl) or Tiemperos (“workers of the rain time” in Spanish)—gather at sacred altars and ceremonial sites in the central highlands of Mexico. Together\, they offer gratitude for the rains that nourished the land throughout the growing season and perform ancient ceremonies to conclude the rain cycle. \nThese time-honored rites symbolically close the spiritual door for the season\, allowing Tlaloc—the sacred force that brings the rains—to rest\, dream\, and begin the sacred work of germination in preparation for the coming cycle. \nThis ceremonial work is deeply rooted in the ancestral understanding of balance between human beings and the spiritual presence of weather. Once initiated into this ancient and still-living path\, Tiemperos\, also called Graniceros (storm pacifiers)\, serve as bridges—conduits between the powerful forces of wind\, cloud\, lightning\, and rain\, and the people who rely on these life-giving elements. \nLong ago\, it was revealed that this relationship between humans and the spirits of weather is not only possible—it is essential. It allows for the blessing of rain to reach the earth in harmony\, and provides a way to mitigate destructive storms through reciprocal connection and devotion. \nWe are part of a continuous lineage handed down through Don Lucio Campos to our current Temachtian (teacher)\, Don David Wiley. This sacred path is not chosen lightly—it is a lifelong calling that demands devotion\, humility\, and a deep commitment to learning. Its purpose is both practical and spiritual: to bring beneficial weather and to strengthen humanity’s sacred relationship with the natural and unseen worlds. \nIf you would like to attend one of our open ceremonies or learn more about the Granicero tradition\, please reach out to us at:\n📩 workingforweather@keepsthefire.org \n

SUMMARY:Tepahtiani Training
DESCRIPTION:Tatewarí chose David Wiley to become a shaman\, guiding him to rescue the lost ancestral shamanic wisdom of indigenous medicine paths. Tatewarí recognized David’s determination\, values\, and skill set—allowing him to effectively bridge cultural and linguistic barriers so that Westerners could experience the rigorous and transformative learning process of this apprenticeship. This path requires a deep\, active relationship with Divine and the natural world—where what may seem like magic to the Western mind becomes an everyday reality. \n \nGraniceros who commit to taking the next step in their spiritual calling must awaken their already heightened senses\, preparing to grasp the profound ways in which life itself unfolds across all levels and aspects. \nDon David Wiley was trained as a Tepahtiani by Don Lucio Campos Elizalde. For years\, Don Lucio searched for someone to pass on his staff\, but he found no suitable apprentices—typically Mexicans—who were truly willing to show up\, no matter what. Don David\, however\, did. His training was reminiscent of a Karate Kid-like apprenticeship\, involving pilgrimages to sacred Nahua sites and a full commitment to his Divine calling. He was fortunate to walk alongside Don Lucio along the ancient dirt roads used by the people to reach these sacred places. \nDon Lucio rarely used vehicles\, as such machines had no place in his understanding of life and his relationship with nature. \nNow\, as Don Lucio prophesied\, individuals from the four corners of the earth are feeling called to reconnect with this lost ancient shamanic path. Those touched by Tlaloc\, the God of Rain\, have little choice in the matter—it is their path to discover whether they\, too\, are meant to become healers and serve others in a deeper\, more engaged way. \nTepahtiani apprentices in Chalma\, Mexico State. México. \nThe first generation of graduated Tepahtiani are now establishing their healing practices\, while Don David continues to work tirelessly to structure a formal teaching program—one that has never been taught in this way before. Traditionally\, Nahua shamanic wisdom was passed down orally from generation to generation\, with occasional cases where Divine directly blessed and instructed an apprentice to accelerate their process—such as Don Lucio’s three-year coma\, during which he was taught by the gods themselves. \nTrainings typically involve a Temazcalli (traditional sweat lodge)\, in-depth classes\, and a clinical healing day. These components provide a complete immersion into the ancient healing techniques\, allowing apprentices to experience the teachings not only through study but also through direct practice and personal transformation. \nIn-person classes are offered in the Mayoría at Casa Xiuhtecuhtli.

SUMMARY:Spring Weather Work Ceremonies
DESCRIPTION:This series of events is hosted by the Weather Workers.\nThese are closed\, specialized events\, with open ceremonies.\nAn Ancient Tradition of Gratitude & Abundance\nDating back to pre-Columbian times\, countless generations of Graniceros have recognized the dynamic presence of the Gods and spirits as Weather Beings\, who actively interact with human lives. In ancient times\, and continuing to this day\, people have witnessed how the Weather Beings govern the rain\, winds\, and seasons\, guiding the cycles of planting and harvest—fundamental to sustaining all people\, communities\, and cultures. \nTraditionally\, God-chosen men\, women\, and their families serve their communities as initiated ambassadors to the Weather Beings\, following lineages dedicated to service. Biannual cyclical ceremonies are maintained year after year to honor the relationship between the Gods and humans through offerings of gratitude. These offerings are placed at sacred locations and temples with prayers\, songs of joy\, fiestas\, and music\, recognizing and celebrating the beneficial presence of the Weather Beings in our lives. The gifts of the Weather Beings manifest in the rich offerings of food\, beverages\, fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, and candles—a true cornucopia of abundance. \nEach spring\, ceremonies are held in fulfillment of the prophecy of the renowned Granicero and healer (Tepahtiani)\, Don Lucio Campos Elizalde. His prophecy foretold a time when dedicated people from around the world would carry on his work\, ensuring the continuity of this ancient Nahua tradition. \nDon Lucio standing in front of the tree where he was struck by lightning\, which he dressed every spring and fall for weather work ceremonies. He chose not to return to the Granicero Ancestral Cave after the other lineage holders disagreed with his decision to teach Westerners\, even though Santa Bárbara had instructed him to do so. \n \nToday\, Don Lucio’s lineage remains strong\, and the endless generosity of the Weather Beings is honored and upheld. \nThis large and growing lineage of Weather Workers is now led by Caporal Mayor Don David Wiley. Their ceremonial home in Tepoztlán\, Morelos\, Mexico\, hosts multiple ceremonies each year at the Mayoría\, or Templo Mayor\, within Casa Xiuhtecuhtli. \n\nDavid Wiley in Nepopualco\, Morelos. Every spring\, the seasonal Granicero ceremonies are conducted by Don David Wiley and the international community of Tiemperos under his tutelage\, who travel to Tepoztlán\, Morelos\, Mexico\, each year to give thanks for good weather and the continuation of life it sustains.
