Sharon and Peter Brown exemplify a profound commitment to service, intertwining their roles as Sacred Fire Firekeepers with deep spiritual practices rooted in the Nahua and Huichol traditions. Married for over 30 years, their partnership is a testament to enduring love and mutual devotion. Peter, initiated as a granicero (weather worker) and tepahtiani (healer) in the Nahua tradition, and as a mara’akate (Wixárika shaman) in the Huichol tradition, draws upon his relationships with the deities and spirits to facilitate healing across physical, emotional, and spiritual realms.
Sharon, equally dedicated, is undergoing studies to become a tepahtiani, embracing the path of healing within the Nahua tradition. Together, they have transformed their Olympia home, near Seattle, into a vibrant community hub, hosting monthly gatherings known as “Audiences with Grandfather Fire.” These ceremonies offer participants of diverse backgrounds opportunities to engage in storytelling, song, and shared experiences, fostering a deep connection with ancestral wisdom and the natural world. Their unwavering dedication to this path has earned their hearth the distinction of being one of the few places where Tatewarí, Grandfather Fire, is committed to manifesting annually.
Through their combined efforts, Sharon and Peter Brown inspire a return to balance and gratitude, guiding others to rekindle the lost knowledge that once enabled ancestors to live harmoniously with life, nature, spirit, and the divine.
